Far Futures project - world in 2040 in Oslo - there are mostly shared and communal living spaces so living units are relatively small. Winters are long and dark and people need something to cheer them up, more plants and greenery.
Every plant lover comes across this problem - not enough space for new plants. I tried to solve this problem by integrating plants into furniture, in this case, a coffee table.
Table has perforation - the holes have different diameter across the whole surface with smaller being horizontal and bigger vertical, making it possible for the plants to loop through or even making space for hanging things.
These storage boxes are perfect for plants planted in Leca (lightweight expanded clay aggregate). They don't need drainage holes, plants are taking as much water as needed, the clay granules help prevent root rot and pests, they are also reusable and sustainable.
Table is made entirely out of recycled aluminium and because of its simple design it's possible to change the shape during manufacturing to suit the needs of users.
